On February 13, 2017, the Lighthouse Point Police Department reported the City’s 2016 crime rate to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the annual Uniform Crime Report.
The Lighthouse Point Police Department is proud to report that the City’s 2016 Part 1 crime rate, which includes homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny/theft, motor vehicle theft and arson, was down by 17%. More importantly, the City’s Part 1 crime rate this year was recorded at its lowest level in 25 years! Additionally, violent crimes in Lighthouse Point were down by 44% in 2016, and the Police Department was successful is solving 80% of all violent crimes.
The Police Department also recorded an overall crime clearance rate of 40% (an all-time high), and has one of the highest crime clearance levels in Broward County.
