The Lighthouse Point Police Department has Law Enforcement Officer positions available now !

At this time we are accepting applications for Florida Certified Officers and non-certified applicants.  Applicants are not required to have any experience prior to application.

Certified Officers with experience may start at $71,134.00 (including professional recruiting incentive)

All Testing at the Broward Institute of Public safety is required for non-certified applicants.  Certified Officers should submit a current motor skills and Swim Test. All results should be attached to the application unless applying from out of state.  See the link below.

Please include copies of the following documents along with your application:

  • Birth certificate
  • Social Security card
  • High School Diploma ( GED)
  • College certificate and transcript, if applicable
  • Florida or current resident state’s driver’s license ( Clear Photo Copy)
  • DD214 ( When prior Military)
  • Naturalization Papers when not American Born Citizen
  • Proof of Law Enforcement Certification

F.A.Q.

Is the testing at the Broward Institute of Public Safety required? Yes,  the results must be attached to the application.  Out of state applicants may turn in the application without the results, but will be required if further processing takes place. Certified Officers do not need a current CJBAT test.

I am an out of state Police Officer, does Florida accept my certification? Please contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to see if your state is recognized and what steps would be necessary to obtain a Florida Certification.

What is the process to be hired? Application, Interview, thorough background investigation, CVSA, Psychological, Medical, Drug test.

How long is the FTO program? The Field Training Program is 16 weeks for new hires with no experience, and 12 weeks for those with experience.
